DIRECTIONS

  • Directions From Nearest Airport: Turin, approx. 116km 1hr 15 mins

    From Turin airport follow signs for Autostrade, this is about 4 junctions on the dual carriageway, follow signs to Aosta, there will be three changes of road before you get onto the A5 - the main motorway and they are all very quick in the first 10 minutes of your journey so keep your eyes peeled! After the Toll, the journey is easy - taking an hour approximately. Exit the motorway NOT at the first sign for Aosta but after at the next turn off, at St Pierre/Aymaville, as we are on the other side of the town. Head for St Pierre NOT Aymaville which is on the opposite side of the valley. Follow signs for Aosta at the large roundabout on the main road. Once on the main road, almost immediately, first turning on the left goes to Sarre central. Follow the road until you reach the small roundabout, turn left over the railway and go straight up the hill. Passed the Parisette bar (on the left) passed the school (on the right) First PROPER road turning on the right after the school (there is a little monument on the corner) which goes over a small stream, 20 metres, first white house on the left - thats us! Grand Cré 1 and is signposted on the house by the front door. If you arrive at night there are twinkling lights around the house. Go passed the house and straight ahead slightly to the left you see a ramp going over the garages to the private car park. On rare occasions or public holidays it may be full in which case, make a U turn going back passed the house, there is another public car park, across the road, from where you came in.

  • Directions From Nearest Ferry Port: Calais, 700 miles

    From Calais drive towards Reims, Troyes, Dijon, going towards Geneva when sign posted and onto Chamonix where you need to take the Mont Blanc Tunnel before getting into Chamonix, its well sign posted-once through the tunnel follow the BLUE signs this is not the motorway, motorway signs are GREEN. The motorway saves only 10 minutes and costs around 10 euro.  Its all tunnels, very boring. Continue on the SS26 through all the villages until St. Pierre, looks like Disneyland castle, follow the signs for Chamonix and when you get close you will see a sign for the Mont Blanc tunnel just before getting into Chamonix, its well sign posted. Once through the tunnel follow the BLUE signs this is not the motorway, motorway signs are GREEN in Italy. The motorway saves only 10 minutes and costs around 10 euro. It's all tunnels, very boring. Continue on the SS26 through all the villages until St. Pierre castle, which looks like Disneyland castle, continue straight through going towards Sarre and Aosta-Follow signs for Aosta at the large roundabout on the main road, go straight ahead and just 50 metres, first turning on the left goes to Sarre central. Follow the road until you reach the small roundabout, turn left over the railway (there have been no trains for years) and go straight up the hill passing the Parisette bar and the school on the right. First turning after the school on the right (there is a little monument on the corner) goes over a small bridge the first white house is on the left, Grand Cré 1 (at night its the one with all the twinkling lights!). Go past the house and straight ahead to the left you see a ramp up to the private car park on top of the garages. On occasions of public holidays it may be full, make a U turn going back past the house, there is another car park across the road from which you came in.

  • Directions From Nearest Train Station: Aosta, 1.3 km

    Exit Aosta by following signs to Petit St. Bernado Pass and Courmayeur.
    Sarre is the first main town out of Aosta. Here you will go up a long steady hill, MD AND CONAD SUPERMARKETS on your left - you will arrive at the first set of traffic lights with a Tabac on your right. continue straight at the large roundabout on the main road, turn right and this will take you to Sarre central. Follow the road until you reach the small roundabout, turn right over the railway and go straight up the hill.   • Directions From Nearest City: Aosta, 1.5 km

    From Aosta follow signs for Courmayeur Petite, Grand St Bernado. Sarre is the next town to Aosta - on passing the Sarre sign MD AND CONAD SUPERMARKETS on your left, you will go up a long slow hill to traffic lights,you will arrive at the first set of traffic lights with a Tabac on your right. continue straight at the large roundabout on the main road, turn right and this will take you to Sarre central. Follow the road until you reach the small roundabout, turn right over the railway and go straight up the hill.
